Sugar Flowers : Peonies

Peonies are extremely popular flowers .They appear as large blossoms on peony shrubs or Peony trees , in the Spring or early Summer.
The flowers of the herbaceous peonies can be red, pink or white and every shade in between. There are also hybrid peonies with yellow, lavender and orange flowers.
There are approximately fifty species, more than 5,000 herbaceous cultivars and hybrids and in the region of 600 or more tree peonies.
I made these sugar peonies in pink and white coloured ruffled blossoms and buds , with burgundy-tinted , green sugar foliage .
Recently , this Sugar Peony spray made a lovely garland decoration on a 3- tier Wedding Cake.

Stilettos and Handbags: Made with Sugar

Edible Sugar ornaments like Stiletto Slip- ons and handbag sets are made from pastillage and modelling paste ; which are types of pastes made from icing sugar.
These ones here, were made in a gold colour set and a set of purple/lilac and emerald colours.
They make lovely cake decorations pieces or table ornaments.


 

 

Use Shoe and Bag Moulding sets to cut out pieces to form hand bag and stilettos slippers; from coloured pastillage and modelling pastes .

 

Put them together to form shoes and bags sets.
Decorate them and spray with edible lustre spray .
Leave to dry for days. Handle them with care and store them in a cool but dry place.

I made this celebration cake recently.
It is a rich fruit cake covered with mint-green fondant.
It is excellent as a dessert.
Three or four layers of this ; decorated with assorted sugar flowers and placed on ornate bases and pillars would make a beautiful wedding cake .

Decorate the cake sides and top with a crimper and Garland Lace Embossers.
Then pipe on scrolls ,grooves and shells on top edge and around the base with royal icing .

 

Complete the decoration by affixing a cluster of sugar roses , mimosa and leaves for the cake top .

Serve and enjoy!
